Do you think you have what it takes to be one of the forerunners of the Hallyu Wave? Then get your guts together and join KISPinoy – The Kpop Philippination.
K-Pop Icon Search among Pinoys (KISPinoy) is a venture of YU&IQ International Inc., in partnership with YU&IQ Korea and NH Media. KISPinoy is the newest reality-based talent search that will definitely make your dreams of becoming a Hallyu Star come true. Top agents, talent managers, and impresarios from Korea will screen the auditions. Out of the hundreds (and thousands – myself, not counted.. just yet) who will audition, only 10 will fly to Korea and train in one of the partner agencies. One will be eliminated through weekly stage battles until one emerges as the Philippine Kpop Icon and win a recording and management contract in Korea.
Kimmy and JP, two of my favorite photographers, and I were very fortunate to attend the grand launch of the biggest K-Pop Icon search in Philippine Television that was held SM Mall of Asia Music Hall last April 22, 2015. Despite arriving late, we were still able to cover the highlight of the launch – the kick-off concert party of Philippine favorite U-Kiss and rookie girl group, Laboum.
U-KISS and Laboum encouraged Filipino hopefuls by showcasing their talents during the grand launch of KISPinoy.
Philippines’ first time visitors, Laboum, performed a total of 4 songs, including their debut song Pit-A-Pat, the title track of their album, Petit Macaron.
U-Kiss, on the other hand, performed their timeless hits, ‘Bingeul Bingeul’, ‘Manmanhani’, and ‘Stop Girl’ among others. U-Kiss also introduced the newest addition to their group, Jun.
As far as I can remember, U-Kiss was one of the pioneer Korean acts to have actually visited the Philippines alongside Super Junior and Rain. They included Philippines in many of their concerts and showcases. In June 2010, they held their first Manila concert entitled, First Kiss Tour in Manila, which they also released in DVD. Rain also performed back-to-back with U-Kiss in September 2010, through Intensity: Rain and U-Kiss in Manila. Three years later, U-Kiss revisited their Filipino KissMe’s through Dream Kpop Fantasy Concert (DKFC) with Girls’ Generation, EXO, Infinite among many others. In 2014, they returned with a showcase in KNation. I believe that Philippines has a special place in their heart because one of their former members, Alexander, has Filipino roots. I honestly think that they deserve an award for being a “suki” (frequent buyer) in the Philippine Kpop Scene.
